COLUMBUS, OH (March 16, 2020) — The Columbus Foundation today received a $1 million gift to its Emergency Response Fund, which assists nonprofit organizations that are experiencing a loss of revenue and/or an increase in operating costs due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
With this newest gift, more than $2 million has been donated, bringing the fund total to more than $3 million. The Foundation seeded the fund with $1 million last week.
The fund was rapidly put into action; today, the Foundation released the first grant dollars: $18,600 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio to purchase meals for families and hire temporary cleaning staff, services that, under normal circumstances, volunteers would provide.
“We are incredibly thankful that our generous community recognizes the importance of supporting our nonprofits during this critical time. We understand how difficult it will be for these organizations to carry out their missions during these times of peril, and we want to do everything we can to help them through this.”
DOUGLAS F. KRIDLER, PRESIDENT AND CEO OF THE COLUMBUS FOUNDATION
Donations to the Emergency Response Fund can be made starting at $20. Contributions may be made here.
