The Columbus Foundation has added Cardinal Health Inc.'s CEO to its governing committee.
George Barrett was added to the nine-member board at its Dec. 13 meeting, replacing OhioHealth CEO David Blom, who has served the past six years.
Governing committee members are volunteers who help guide the foundation and its charitable activities.
The Columbus Foundation is by far Central Ohio's largest foundation, with assets of more than $1.25 billion, and is the eighth-largest community foundation in the United States. It advises the philanthropic efforts of more than 2,500 individuals, families and businesses.
Barrett has been chairman and CEO of Dublin-based Cardinal Health since 2009 but is relinquishing the CEO title in January.
He also serves on the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland and the board of trustees at his alma mater Brown University. The accomplished singer and guitar player is also on the board of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
