Columbus, Ohio (October 16, 2015)—Today, the Columbus cluster of CEOs for Cities announced Columbus as the host site of the 2016 CEOs for Cities National Meeting, which will be held next September. CEOs for Cities members from all over the country are expected to attend the prestigious event. The Columbus cluster consists of 40 local leaders from the public, nonprofit, and private sectors.
“From September 28-30, 2016, 500 leaders from 75 cities will convene in Columbus, Ohio to share the smartest ideas and practices for city success. Columbus was the obvious choice for the 2016 National Meeting of CEOs for Cities because Columbus has become one of the most creative, innovative, and progressive cities in the nation,” said Lee Fisher, president and CEO of CEOs for Cities, and former Ohio Attorney General and Lt. Governor. “Under the leadership of Doug Kridler, the president and CEO of The Columbus Foundation, Columbus has formed a remarkable cross-sector team of leaders who have joined the CEOs for Cities network, and we plan to showcase Columbus’ many successes.
We’re especially excited to convene in Columbus because it’s well-known that the road to the White House in 2016 runs through the swing state of Ohio. In 2016, the center of the political universe will be in Ohio, and the ‘center of the center’ will be in the heartland of Columbus. Our National Meeting will take place during the same week as the first presidential debate, which is in Ohio, and we will be inviting both major presidential nominees to speak at our conference.”
CEOs for Cities, a Cleveland and Chicago-based nonprofit established in 2001, is a national network of cross-generation, cross-section urban leaders dedicated to building and sustaining great cities. CEOs for Cities’ members include a unique makeup of mayors, civic, corporate, and nonprofit leaders spearheading change throughout their communities.
The CEOs for Cities National Meeting brings together innovative thought leaders from all over the United States and gives members the opportunity to build national networks. The meeting will also serve as a forum for showcasing the many successes of Columbus, and offers a unique civic leadership immersion experience for participants.
