Homage, Piada Italian Street Food, and Donatos offer generous incentives for those who join the community in supporting central Ohio nonprofits during The Big Give
Columbus, OH (May 11, 2015)—In less than 24 hours, The Columbus Foundation’s Big Give will kick off, offering donors and the community an opportunity to show their collective spirit and support local nonprofits working to strengthen and improve our community.
The Big Give, a 24-hour online giving rally, will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12, and run until 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13. Participants can go to columbusfoundation.org and donate to one or more of their favorite local nonprofits in PowerPhilanthropy,® the Foundation’s online giving marketplace. The Big Give is a periodic community-wide giving rally for local nonprofits, which was last undertaken in 2013.
The Foundation is offering the largest bonus pool ever—$1.3 million provided by Foundation donors and community partners. A lead gift from Medical Mutual of Ohio tops the list of external contributions to the bonus pool, which is used to increase participants’ donations on a pro rata basis.
Giving is easy, even on a mobile device. All major credit cards, with a minimum donation of $20, are accepted. Additionally, The Columbus Foundation is covering all credit card fees so that 100 percent of gifts go to charity. Big Give donations can be made in honor of, or in memory of, a loved one, or to support a favorite cause.
Homegrown Businesses Offer Rewards for Those Who Give!
Thanks to three generous, homegrown businesses that have joined the Foundation as promotional partners for The Big Give, everyone who gives during The Big Give will receive rewards for supporting their favorite nonprofits.
When participants show their Big Give receipt on May 12 and May 13:
Homage is offering a limited edition baseball lacelet, featuring the quote, “We can do no great things—only small things with great love.”
Piada Italian Street Food is offering a free piada, and
Donatos is offering a free 7” one topping pizza for eat-in or carryout only.
Instagram Contest Sparks Creativity
An Instagram contest announced on April 15 as a way for nonprofits and the public to show and spread Big Give spirit has garnered more than 700 entries using the hashtag #BigGiveTCF.
